The members of the Environmental Policy and Agricultural Strategic Policy Committee of Mayo County Council this week heaped praise on Sharon Cameron, environmental awareness officer of Mayo County Council, for the work she has done in the past 10 years. Ms Cameron was at the meeting to give the members a presentation on the work that her office carries out throughout the county.

Bond Cafe in Ballina is the perfect setting for a bite to eat. The cafe opened in April of this year when Mari Cambridge, a Mayo native, returned to Ireland from the UK. Ms Cambridge has vast experience in the food businesses — nine years running a French deli in Kent, which specialised in French, English, and Irish cheeses, and nine years strictly catering directly for both corporate and private clients.

Retailers across the country were recognised for their outstanding contribution to fresh food at Checkout Magazine’s “Best in Fresh” awards last Tuesday, and there was cause for celebration for one Galway store. The event saw hundreds of stores across Ireland audited by independent judges and Joyce’s Supermarket in Knocknacarra was awarded the title of Best Non–Affiliated Retailer in Ireland. According to the judging panel, Joyce’s offer the best fresh food offering, with a large selection of the freshest food sourced from many local suppliers. The fresh food team were commended for their passion and knowledge of the food.
